Mind-body connection has been thought to be weakened during aging process, and might be important in “mental frailty”. Interoception is an index ofmind-body connection, and its relationship with emotional problem has been studied extensively. However, the relation between interoception and emotional process receive relatively less attention. Emotional awareness reflect how an individual perceive his/her current bodily state, therefore should be related to interoception. This study aims to investigate the relation between interoception and emotional among elderly to explore the mind-body connection pattern in old age. Schandry’s heartbeat detection task, psychophysiological responses and self-rated emotional status assessed by Self-Assessment Manikin toward colorful pictures presented using backward masking procedure were administrated among more than 100 Taiwanese old adults. The preliminary analysis found that patterns of relations between two kinds of emotional awareness index-“Electromyography-Valence” and“Skin Conductance-Arousal”, and interoceptive indexwere different. The possiblemeaning and influences on aging process is discussed.
