    Title: An integrated microfluidic device for automated detection of cancer cells from bile for cholangiocarcinoma prognosis

    Abstract: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is difficult to detect due to its deep location and has recognized as “silent” cancer. Blood has been commonly used for liquid biopsy; however, accuracy of this approach was not satisfactory. In this study, we hypothesized bile could be a reliable sample for CCA detection/prognosis since it is relatively closer to lesions. We herein developed a new integrated microfluidic system which could simultaneously utilize three affinity reagents to capture tumor cells. Experimental results showed these affinity reagents captured tumor cells successfully in 2-ml bile with a sensitivity of 100% and a specificity of 79.3% from 119 clinical samples.
