题名: Hypoxia in drug resistance and radioresistance
    作者: Chang, KY;Lin, IL;Cheung, CHA
贡献者: National Institute of Cancer Research
摘要: Tumors mostly experience hypoxia or hypoxic stress as they progress, especially for tumor cells that are located far from the functional blood vessels. Pathologically. tumor hypoxia is known to play an important role in tumor progression, and it also contributes to the development of chemoresistance and radioresistance. Among different intracellular signaling pathways, the hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) signaling pathway is the most studied and known for its importance in regulating the survival of cells, including cancer cells, under hypoxic conditions. In the following sections, the molecular biology of hypoxia and the HIF-1 signaling pathway will be briefly reintroduced. Importantly, the role of hypoxia in tumor chemoresistance and radioresistance will be discussed in detail.
