Abstract: Diseases of the liver pose a major healthcare challenge. Liver-related diseases, such as hepatitis, fatty liver, cirrhosis, and liver cancer, could be more effectively treated if the therapeutic drugs concentrate intracellularly within diseased tissue. Recently, we described the biodistribution of fluores- cently labeled mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) in nude mice using non-invasive optical imaging techniques.
